Automotive and Marine Putty

In the past there were two types of repair putties: lightweight putty that was easy to work but created a bumpy surface, or conventional putty that produced a smoother surface, but was difficult to sand.

The addition of Q-CEL® hollow spheres, alone or in combination with other mineral fillers, effectively increases the volume of the mixture while decreasing the weight and cost per unit volume. The reduced density of putties formulated with hollow spheres allows application to vertical surfaces without sagging or slumping.

Low density putties formulated with Q-CEL® hollow spheres show improved shrinkage and sand ability.

Higher loading of spherical particles can enable formulators to reduce resin demand without increasing viscosity.

Putties made with Q-CEL® micro particle sized hollow spheres maintain the smooth surface characteristics of conventional resin/talc formulations. At the same time the putties offer the advantages of lowered costs overall and enhanced ease of handling that characterize the lightweight putties.
