Plastics
Potters Industries supplies two types of glass spheres for use as extenders and performance modifiers in plastics applications—SPHERIGLASS® solid spheres and SPHERICEL® hollow spheres.
Our spherical particles are strong enough to survive injection molding. They provide improved flow and handling properties in a variety of applications. Unlike irregularly shaped fillers, spherical particles do not adversely affect the viscosity of resin systems.
Because of their composition, Potters glass beads exhibit low oil absorption, which makes our products very cost effective. The glass beads also resist stains and thermal degradation.
The physical properties of finished parts can be further improved by using Potters glass spheres coated with functional silanes. The coating results in better adhesion between sphere and resin.
Applications:
Thermoplastic Engineering Resins
Prototype Molding
